Big Tex auction and scholarship programs raise more than $2.7 million for Texas students

Frank Deel and Family, along with the Big Tex Champion Club, bid a record 227,000 for the Grand Champion Market Steer on Friday, October 2. The sale opened the Big Tex Youth Livestock Auction at the Briscoe Carpenter Livestock Center in Fair Park. More than 600 Texas youth exhibitors took part. With the scholarship programs, the auction brought in more than 2.7 million for Texas students in 2026. The State Fair of Texas says 100% of donations go directly to students.
Every dollar donated goes to Texas students, because the State Fair of Texas covers the operating costs of its fundraising events.
